FIABCI World President Mr. Budiarsa Sastrawinata proposed innovative solutions for global poverty through affordable housing, emphasizing the importance of diverse definitions and approaches within a global framework, at 2024 (ECOSOC) Partnership Forum, Tuesday, January 30, at the UN Headquarters in New York. He also recommended policies for affordable housing, focusing on financial and social sustainability which involve government-private sector cooperation, innovative construction technology, and maintenance strategies. Emphasizing a holistic and sustainable approach, Budiarsa encouraged competition, innovation, and market mechanism, considering broader sustainability principles for communities and cities.

In New York, Budiarsa was Invited to contribute to a panel discussion on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Number 1, Budiarsa discussed “Strengthening Agenda 2030 and Combating Poverty in Times of Crisis: Delivering Sustainable, Resilient, and Innovative Solutions.” The discussion covered trends such as the concentration of poverty, geographical inequality, increasing conflicts, and demographic transformation. Other speakers at the event included Jose Medina Moraicaza, President of the Mexican Employers Group Coparmex and Chairman of CompuSoluciones, Shawyn Patterson-Howard, Mayor of Mount Vernon, NY, and Representative for the Local Authorities Major Group, Emily Forhman, Executive Director of Women First International Fund, Paula Gaviria, UN Special Rapporteur on the Human Rights of Internally Displaced People (IDPs), Rikin Gandhi, CEO of Digital Green, and Jeffrey Sachs, Director at the Center for Sustainable Development, Columbia University.
